RE: 1998 Holiday Schedule for Comm-Pro 37XX Upgrade Activity and Y2K Testing Considerations NAS/HOST/IP_X.25 - Network Access Software, Host TCP/IP X.25 Extension Comm-Pro Information Resources - Contact Information HOLIDAY SCHEDULE FOR COMM-PRO ----------------------------- In our traditional celebration of the coming holiday seasons, Comm-Pro will be taking selected time off during November and December. These dates typically correspond with our customer's holidays and allow our staff some needed vacation time with as little impact as possible for our users. Comm-Pro's offices will be closed for Thanksgiving week between Saturday, November 21 through Sunday, November 29, 1998. We will return to our offices on Monday, November 30, 1998. Our offices will also be closed for the period between Christmas Eve day, Thursday, December 24, 1998, and Sunday, January 3, 1999. We will return to our offices on Monday, January 4, 1999. If you are planning to make changes or conduct testing which requires Comm-Pro technical support, please be sure and schedule your events in advance with Comm-Pro staff excluding these dates. Comm-Pro is always eager to work with you to meet all your technical objectives. Your flexibility and consideration in regards to this holiday time is greatly appreciated. If you have any questions about holiday schedules, or need to discuss testing dates, other pressing technical, or other issues, please use the information resources listed at the bottom of this document to contact Comm-Pro personnel. 37XX UPGRADE ACTIVITY AND Y2K TESTING CONSIDERATIONS ---------------------------------------------------- Many of our customers have completed their Y2K testing and are ready for the upcoming millennium date change. The majority of these customers upgraded their Operating System, VTAM, Applications, SSP, NCP and EP software to levels supported by IBM through the Year 2000. We are continually fulfilling requests for Comm-Pro product maintenance refreshes and upgrade distributions that support more recent IBM NCP|EP|SSP|VTAM levels. Customer's with extensive custom Comm-Pro modifications or enhancements should contact Comm-Pro ASAP to ensure that their products are available in a timely manner should they require a refresh or upgrade. Customer's that have already ordered and received their refresh or upgrade should consider implementation before too much time elapses. Our intention is to avoid any potential scheduling conflicts that could arise should too many customers wait until the last minute to implement a refresh or upgrade. Not all customers will upgrade or change their 37xx software due to their internal support or maintenance policies. Some have already decided that they will continue to run with software unsupported by IBM although they are obviously making some environment changes for Y2K support. We actually still have some 3705 EP customers running with the 'free EP' who are very satisfied with the performance and stability of their environment. Again, we would like to assure you that Comm-Pro's software is not Year 2000 date-sensitive. NAS/HOST/IP_X.25 - Network Access Software, Host TCP/IP X.25 Extension -------------------------------------------------------------------- We are working on a host NAS product that will take X.25 traffic, which is enveloped in TCP/IP into VTAM applications. This product runs on the mainframe and does not require a 37mm FEP. X.25 traffic is connected via IP routers and brought into the mainframe through IBM's host TCP/IP stack which our host NAS product interfaces to. Customers that use IBM 2616 routers are candidates for this software. Additional information regarding this product will be provided at the beginning of 1999.
