SHIP25 MAINTENANCE SUMMARY
--------------------------
Date: May 31, 2001
Memorandum
To: All Comm-Pro Users at the SHIP25 Distribution Levels.
All references to SHIP25 also includes support for SHIP25 Mod 1
(SHIP25M1) and SHIP25 Mod 2 (SHIP25M2) unless otherwise noted.
The following is a summary of SHIP25 maintenance (APARs, etc.)
issued as of the noted dates. This summary is provided as a
reference for problem resolution or preventative maintenance.
The summary record contains the following information:
APAR - Assigned Comm-Pro APAR number (S25nnn)
REF/NOTE - Comm-Pro internal identification (R_name) for
miscellaneous fixes and enhancements.
CP_NOTE - Comm-Pro product or support issues.
IBM_NOTE - IBM product or support issues, including early
warning of IBM PTF/APAR or error conditions.
COMPONENT - The Comm-Pro package or resource type that the
corrective logic addresses.
DATE - For APARs and Enhancements, this date reflects
when the actual corrective logic was applied
to the standard Comm-Pro SHIP25 distribution
libraries.
For all others, this date reflects when the item
was added to the summary.
DESCRIPTION - Brief description of the problem. Refer to the
actual APAR Memo for additional information
and corrective logic, if available.
Please refer to the SHIP25 documentation manual in APPENDIX F
(Maintenance) for additional information.
SHIP25 Maintenance Summary Detail
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
APAR/REF - COMPONENT
DATE DESCRIPTION.
CP_NOTE - ASMA90 High Level Assembler (HLASM) CC-4 Suppression,
04-19-2001 IBM has introduced a special HLASM PARM= value that instructs
the assembler to suppress CC-4 warning message generation for
AL2(*) and Y(*) y-con relocatibles.
Our CPSTG3 ASMTBL1 step can receive ASMA066W CC-4 warning
messages under the newer HLASM. The errors can be ignored
although with the new RA2 parameter the assembly can complete
with CC-0 eliminating the need to review the warning messages.
Note that you will generally require a distribution tape with
a TCD (tape creation date) of 07-13-2000 and Assembler PARM=
and work 0SYSUT DD changes from 08-15-2000 and 11-15-2000 for
support. Customers with recent (mid to late 1999) complete
product distributions may qualify for our simple macro update
pack instead of a CUME refresh or upgrade. Please contact your
Comm-Pro representative for details.
CP_NOTE - IBM Binder 1.5 (IEWL link editor) - A recent implementation of
05-31-2001 binder can cause a BAL (branch and link) opcode's address to
be resolved incorrectly. The error causes x'300' to be added
to the branch to address which can cause abends or spurious
results when the branch to location is x'300' bytes beyond the
correct location. Currently we have only observed this problem
during the initial load/activation of the NCP (or PEP) which was
reassembled under an OS upgrade using the newer binder.
The current short term solution is to change all occurrences
of PGM=IEWL to PGM=HEWLKED (or an older link editor) in the
Comm-Pro XFRQMAC and GENEND macro members located in the XFM37XX
library. This change will cause our CPSTG2 and CPSTG3 link edit
steps to use an older link edit program until IBM resolves the
problem.
We will update this status as soon as IBM has assigned a ptf or
tracking number for this problem. Please contact a Comm-Pro
representative should you have additional question or concerns.
