NAS/IP Extension products currently available :
TCP/IP Products
Our current TCP/IP software implements the TCP/IP protocol stack in the 37XX. This
allows existing host teleprocessing applications to connect to TCP/IP networks without
changes or additions to the host software.
37XX to Network Interfaces
Synchronous lines using the Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP).
Device and Host Interfaces
TELNET/EP - TELNET ASCII Terminal Support
Traffic from devices running Telnet Network Virtual Terminal (NVT) software can be routed
to the host via EP subchannels, the host 'sees' an ASCII type device. The Telnet protocol
(processing of Telnet commands, doubling of IAC characters, etc.) is handled in the 37xx.
Sessions can be established by the remote ("connect" button generates SYN
request for the 37xx) or by the host (EP dial CCW supplies an IP address for the 37xx to
contact).
TN3270/EP - 3270 EBCDIC Terminal Support
Traffic from computers running the TN3270 protocol is routed to the host via EP
subchannels, the host 'sees' a multipoint remote BSC line. For VM/ESA systems this support
is provided by Pass-Through VM (PVM).
TBINARY/EP - Binary Program-to-Program Support
A binary path mechanism is available for installations requiring program to program
communication at the datagram level. When this path is used the 37xx provides a socket
interface that the host can read or write (each operation simply transfers a TCP segment
to or from the remote socket).
NAS/IP Extension products currently in beta testing or under development:
Ethernet and PPP support for IP traffic as well as RFC1490 encapsulation of IP traffic across X.25 access lines, TN3270/NEO, TELNET/NEO, etc. Enhancement on the horizon, SHIP26.
